Ms. Jenny’s Wild Ride…Part the 3rd

Now that Thing 1 and I were skiing and snowboarding professionals after our previous 2 trips, we decided that it was time to go it alone.  We’re not completely daft, though, so we went back to Snowbird to hang out on the beginner run, Chickadee, while we made sure that we could do this on our own without an instructor to give help and advice, pick up lost equipment, and otherwise save our bacon.

And things went really well!  Thing 1 and I managed to get on and off the ski lift without danger to ourselves or others.  I only fell once, I think, and that was because I was turned around backwards trying to video Thing 1.  I got a camera lens full of snow.  (Insert Jenny’s thoughts here: “Wait!  Where’s the picture?  Why isn’t this thing working?  Why is it all white?  Oh, no!  There’s snow on my lens.  Crud!  Get the snow out!  Get the snow out!  Come on, camera.  Stay with me.  We haven’t even had that much time together...)  And yes, I got the snow out and the camera is fine.

Thing 1 was having a hard time connecting his turns at the beginning of the day, but after about a million “Connect your turns!” comments and ski pole-drawn diagrams in the snow from me and a serious snow tail that had formed on the bottom of his hoodie that was hanging out from under his ski jacket, he looked like this:

Yeah, that kid is pretty awesome.

And the cherry on top of a great day was that I got us on the right ski bus home this time.  I can be taught!

Oh, and here I am as “la ski bandita.”  I think the bright, happy colors make me look particularly menacing.  And it’s just too bad you can’t see my bright green pants.  They are pretty intimidating, too.
